The Philippines took home multiple awards at the 2025 ASEAN Energy Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, showing the country is making progress in saving energy and using it more efficiently.
The Department of Energy (DOE) disclosed on Tuesday that Globe Telecom won for improving energy use across its buildings.
Solaris One placed 1st Runner-Up for its eco-friendly design, while Tagum Water Company earned 1st Runner-Up for strengthening its energy management systems.
Semirara Mining and Power was also recognized for its corporate social responsibility programs in the ASEAN Coal Awards.
Individual and youth achievers were honored too. Former DOE Assistant Director Artemio P. Habitan received an award for his work promoting energy efficiency.
Student Francheskha Joy Panganiban Rembulat and teacher Jhun Jhun Q. Agustin were recognized for projects raising public awareness about clean energy.
“These recognitions affirm that Philippine organizations and advocates are delivering real, practical innovation — from smarter buildings and stronger energy management systems to youth-led communications that build wider public understanding,” Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin said.
“Energy efficiency and conservation remain among the most immediate and cost-effective ways to strengthen energy security and reduce consumer exposure to volatile fuel costs,” he added.
The ASEAN Energy Awards, led by the ASEAN Centre for Energy, celebrate efforts that improve energy efficiency, conservation, and sustainable energy use while encouraging regional cooperation and solutions to strengthen energy security.
