Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(Phivolcs) reported on Tuesday, 6 January.
Phivolcs said a weak ash emission was observed at the Kanlaon summit crater at 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
The event produced grayish ash plumes that rose up to 350 meters above the crater before drifting southwest.
State volcanologists warned the public against entering the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone and advised aviation authorities to avoid flying aircraft close to the volcano.
Possible hazards include sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions, as well as precursory magmatic activity, Phivolcs said.
