The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday vowed full cooperation with investigators, saying it is taking seriously the arrest of a payroll officer linked to the alleged diversion of public funds.
Justice spokesman Polo Martinez said the department is coordinating closely with the National Bureau of Investigation and other authorities as the probe moves forward.
“The Department of Justice takes very seriously the arrest of a DOJ payroll officer in connection with an alleged diversion of public funds,” Martinez said. “We extend full cooperation to the National Bureau of Investigation and other authorities as they pursue the investigation.”
The DOJ said it remains committed to transparency and accountability, stressing the need to safeguard public resources amid the ongoing investigation.
Martinez added that the department would also take steps to strengthen its internal controls to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
No additional details on the arrest or the amount of funds allegedly involved were disclosed, as the investigation remains ongoing.
