The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has been placed on heightened alert as Simbang Gabi approaches, with more than 14,000 police personnel set to be deployed across Metro Manila.
Police Major Hazel Asilo, NCRPO spokesperson, said in an interview with DZRH News that the deployment will cover churches and nearby roads from evening until early morning during the traditional dawn masses.
Foot and mobile patrols will be intensified, while assistance desks will be established in malls, transportation terminals, and major transit hubs, including LRT and MRT stations.
Asilo added that intelligence monitoring has been reinforced to prevent crimes such as theft, which typically increase during the holiday season. Authorities also urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly in crowded areas and during peak hours.
The NCRPO assured the public that all necessary measures are in place to maintain peace and order as Filipinos observe the annual Christmas tradition.
