A P2-billion farm-to-market road (FMR) is being planned in Sultan Kudarat, Mindanao, aimed at opening 32,000 to 35,000 hectares of farmland currently unused due to lack of access.
Mapping of corridors has begun to link isolated production areas to commercial hubs. The project is part of a broader plan to expand road networks in Mindanao, including areas around Liguasan Marsh, which could make an additional 300,000 hectares of land accessible once connected.
Post-harvest facilities, such as cold storage units, dryers, silos, and logistics links to ports, are also planned under the World Bank–funded Philippine Rural Development Project to reduce production costs and support farmers’ income.
A dedicated FMR unit will oversee implementation, and a monitoring system will be set up using time-lapse cameras, a farm-to-market portal, and agreements with farmer cooperatives to track progress.
