ILOILO CITY — Security measures are already in full swing across Western Visayas to ensure a safe and orderly holiday season as “Paskuhan 2025” festivities draw near.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6), said police presence will be ramped up in key areas, with assistance hubs strategically placed to provide quick support to the public.
“PRO-6 will also strengthen anti-criminality operations and public awareness campaigns to remind communities to stay alert against theft and illegal firecrackers during the holidays,” Ligan said Thursday.
Specialized regional units, including the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and K-9 Units, the Regional Maritime Unit, the Traffic Management Unit, and tourist police, will support regular police personnel.
In Iloilo City, Col. Kim Legada, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), directed station and unit commanders to review and reinforce security protocols. Deployments at police assistance hubs, places of worship, shopping centers, seaports, transport terminals, and other key areas are being evaluated, along with night-shift personnel, to ensure maximum visibility and rapid response.
“The holidays bring crowds and festivities, but they can also present opportunities for crime. Re-evaluating our security measures guarantees a safer community for all. Under our watch, we will not allow disruptions to the peace,” Legada said.
Heightened vigilance is especially critical during Simbang Gabi 2025, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and the upcoming Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2026, as authorities aim to keep the celebrations joyful yet secure for residents and visitors alike.
