According to the Cabanatuan City Police, the circulating story uploaded on 8 December is fake, clarifying that there is no recorded incident of a woman killing her husband in the area.

The false report, which alleged that a woman stabbed her husband to death, has spread widely on social media. Its timing coincided with the release of Christmas bonuses, typically a period when many women visit salons for hair treatments, making the rumor more believable to some.

Authorities are urging the public not to share unverified information and to always fact-check before posting or reposting content online. They emphasized that the spread of fake news is dangerous and can lead to unnecessary panic and disruption of peace and order.

As of this year, the Philippines continues to battle the growing problem of fake news and disinformation. Government agencies and media organizations are intensifying efforts to counter false information and boost public awareness. A recent survey showed that 59 percent of Filipinos consider fake news a serious national concern.
