Cagayan De Oro City — The city government canceled the grand launch of its “Pasko De Oro 2025” celebration last 1 December following reports of a potential terrorist bombing plot, the chairman of the city’s public order and safety committee announced Tuesday.
Councilor Roger Abaday, who heads the committee, said in a radio interview that the Oro Task Force and other law enforcement agencies are validating reports that recent graduates of improvised explosives training from an unnamed terrorist group plan to carry out a test mission in key areas in Mindanao during the holiday season.
“The Oro Task Force and other law enforcement agencies are on high alert for possible bomb attacks,” Abaday said.
He also confirmed that Mayor Rolando Uy canceled the grand launching of Pasko de Oro 2025.
The city peace and development council has scheduled an emergency meeting on Wednesday with police and military officials to assess the peace and order situation in the city and Northern Mindanao.
