Cassandra Li Ong, who is facing human trafficking charges, is currently in the Philippines, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, the information came from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which is still conducting operations to find her.
“Ms. Cassandra Ong is presently in the country, and efforts to track her down are ongoing,” Castro said in Filipino.
Ong — also known as Cassandra “Cassie” Ong — has been identified as the girlfriend of Wesley Guo, the brother of ousted Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has offered a P1-million reward for any information that could lead to Ong’s whereabouts.
The reward was announced after Senator Sherwin Gatchalian informed a Senate committee that Ong had been released from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City and is now considered “at large.”
Castro said that anyone who sees Cassandra Ong should immediately report it, noting that every opportunity and means will help the government.
