

Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 2025 International Business Awards (IBA), securing 15 Stevie® honors across sustainability, innovation, corporate reporting, and stakeholder engagement. The annual global awards program drew more than 3,800 nominations from over 70 countries.
Meralco earned five Gold Stevie Awards, including Sustainability Leadership and Sustainability Initiative of the Year for Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Its flagship agenda, Powering the Good Life, was commended for positioning energy as a driver of inclusive progress, while its Greening the Network program was cited for strengthening grid resilience amid climate challenges.
The company also won in the Sustainability and Environment video category for A Global Breakthrough: MTerra Solar, which showcased what is billed as the world’s largest integrated solar and battery facility. Another Gold win recognized Meralco Powerhouse, an investor event that highlighted the firm’s growth outlook and operational strength. Meralco Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo was also named Sustainability Hero of the Year.
“These Stevie Awards are a tribute to the nearly 20,000 women and men of One Meralco who work passionately not only to keep the lights on for our over eight million customers, but also to power the good life for all,” Ravelo said. “This achievement energizes us to keep pushing forward—as a power company and as a force for inclusive national progress.”
Meralco also brought home eight Silver Stevie® Awards for initiatives spanning diversity and inclusion, circular economy practices, ESG integration, community electrification, and corporate events. Ravelo was recognized a second time for Sustainability Advocate of the Year, while One Meralco Foundation President Jeffrey O. Tarayao was named Thought Leader of the Year for aligning grassroots development with national priorities.
Rounding out its wins, Meralco received two Bronze Stevie Awards for its BulacanSol sustainability video and for Pangako, its 2023 Annual and Sustainability Report, recognized for excellence in disclosure and transparency.
Stevie Awards President Maggie Miller said the 2025 competition “set a new benchmark for excellence,” adding that this year’s winners demonstrated “remarkable ambition and achievement.”
Established in 2002 and widely regarded as the “Olympics of the workplace,” the International Business Awards celebrate outstanding performance among global companies and professionals.
