Former Eat Bulaga host Jimmy Santos has finally addressed long-standing questions about why he left the iconic noontime show, clarifying in an interview on Toni Talks that he never actually resigned.

“Hindi naman ako umalis. Nandiyan pa rin ako,” Jimmy explained, emphasizing that his absence was not a matter of choice but a shift that came naturally with age. Now a senior citizen, he acknowledged that the show’s fast-paced segments and physical games became difficult for him to keep up with. “Kasi siyempre una, yung takbuhan di na ako puwede ro’n,” he said, pointing out that his limitations eventually phased him out of the onscreen activities.

He also humorously addressed comparisons with the long-time pillars of the program—Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon—who have remained with the show for decades. “Tinanong nila, bakit yung Tito, Vic and Joey nandun pa, eh pa’no magreresign yun sila may-ari nun. Sino magpapasweldo,” Jimmy quipped, reiterating that their roles in the program are inherently different from his.

Jimmy’s candid clarification shed light on the natural transitions that come with aging in the entertainment industry, while also reaffirming his continued connection to the show where he spent many years of his career. His remarks reflect both humility and humor—qualities that endeared him to Filipino viewers throughout his time on Eat Bulaga.
