A 38-year-old bank messenger was nabbed by authorities after allegedly stealing part of the P1.05 million he was tasked to deposit in Makati City.
The suspect, identified as alias “Jessie,” a resident of Barangay 12, Caloocan City, was on duty when the incident happened in a bank inside Alphaland Makati Place.
According to the complainant, 47-year-old “Melanie,” a bank manager from Sucat, Parañaque, she handed the suspect P1.05 million placed inside a brown envelope and instructed him to deposit the amount in full in her account.
However, the suspect became unreachable. After several attempts to contact him, he eventually answered and claimed that he was in a gasoline station along Filmore Street, Palanan.
Police reported that “Jessie” admitted to taking P650,000 from the amount given to him and transferring it to his personal account to fund online card games. He surrendered the remaining P400,000.
Documents are now being prepared for the filing of qualified theft charges before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
