The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Wednesday it will maintain its full alert status through 30 November in anticipation of continuous protests against corruption, including a major rally scheduled for the end of the month.
PNP spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño confirmed at a press conference that the director for operations is currently finalizing deployment plans for the 30 November rally.
“If you notice, we are still on full alert status,” Tuaño said, adding that the Manila Police District (MPD) is already maintaining personnel deployment at the Mendiola Peace Arch near Malacañang Palace due to ongoing protests.
Acting PNP chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated the police force is fully prepared for the gathering, referring to it as the “Trillion Peso March.”
“Our approach is clear — maximum tolerance for those peacefully exercising their rights, and zero tolerance for any form of violence or unlawful activity,” Nartatez said in a statement.
“Our goal is zero violence, zero untoward incidents, and a safe environment for everyone,” he added.
The PNP is preparing pre-deployment of personnel, medical assistance teams, and coordination with local government units to ensure a swift response to any emergencies.
Authorities urged participants to follow instructions and avoid bringing prohibited items. Motorists and nearby communities were advised to expect heavier traffic, plan alternative routes, and check for advisories regarding security checkpoints and traffic adjustments.
