The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Atty. Don Artes and officials of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have joined forces to implement the proposed construction of a canopy and walkway that will connect DICT’s Studio 7 to the MRT Kamuning Station along EDSA, Quezon City.
The proposed canopy and walkway aim to enhance and speed up pedestrian access from buildings near EDSA — including the Filinvest Towers — to the MRT Kamuning Station. The proposal was raised following repeated delays experienced by commuters during rainfall, prompting the initiative to ensure the public is protected while walking to the station.
Undersecretary of Support Services of DICT, Heherson Asiddao, presented the design of the canopy and walkway, which will begin at Studio 7 and pass through Victoria Sports Tower, the Pag-IBIG Fund building, and the SMDC building.
MMDA Chair Artes said there will be no issue with the design of the canopy as long as there are no objections from different stakeholders.
According to Heherson, the structure will not obstruct motorists because the canopy will be built along the sidewalk.
The meeting was attended by officials of both MMDA and DICT and was held at the MMDA head office in Pasig City.
