The Philippine Coast Guard will deploy its personnel for today’s Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy,” as it stands firm in supporting the constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
“These rights are the cornerstones of a just and democratic society, enabling individuals to engage in public discourse, voice their concerns, and participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their lives in a peaceful, just, inclusive and prosperous Filipino society: Ang Bagong Pilipinas,” said PCG Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan in a statement.
As people gather in the coming days to exercise these sacred rights, Gavan said the PCG will deploy personnel to help ensure public safety and security.
In close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), PCG personnel will assist in maintaining order and providing immediate emergency response.
“The PCG in fulfilling its mandates shall stay committed to its official and moral duty to stay apolitical. Our men and women shall remain faithful to the Constitution, the Chain of Command, and the higher duty of serving the Filipino people,” Gavan stated.
