Inciting to sedition and rebellion charges have been formally filed against Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga before the Quezon City Office of the City Prosecutor, the Department of Justice confirmed.
This was according to DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez in a message to reporters on Wednesday night.
The DOJ official said the case was lodged by the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
”I don’t have a copy of the complaint yet, but we confirm the filing of the said case with the QC-OCP,” Martinez said.
He further confirmed that a subpoena has already been issued against Representative Barzaga, which officially commenced the preliminary investigation of the case.
