From the quiet charm of Dumaguete City to the dynamic stage of the P-pop movement, Rakhim S. Tahir, better known by his stage name RAKS, is carving his own path as one of the most promising solo idols of his generation. At just 23, this multi-talented performer has transformed years of hard work, competition, and creativity into a growing artistic journey that bridges passion with purpose.
RAKS’ story began long before the spotlight found him. At only six years old, he was already performing on local stages, eager to express himself through song and dance. His natural drive led him to national and international competitions, proving that his small-town beginnings were only the start of something bigger.
In 2018, he proudly represented Team Philippines at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California—where he earned six medals across multiple categories. The following year, he took another leap by auditioning for Idol Philippines, marking his first major appearance in the national spotlight.
After years of performing other people’s music, RAKS began crafting his own sound. In 2023, he officially entered the world of songwriting with his self-penned debut single, Me, Myself, and I. The song reflected his introspective nature and desire to tell authentic stories through music. Later that same year, he joined his first songwriting competition with the track Care to Spend the Rest of the Night with Me, which he both wrote and choreographed—earning him a 2nd Runner-Up finish and the attention of local music enthusiasts.
The young artist continued to build his performance résumé with standout moments across major music stages. In SILLIMUSIKA 2024, he was among the front acts for the acclaimed OPM band Lola Amour, a milestone he describes as both surreal and inspiring. That same year, he joined the V1BE Fest Manila “Creators Studio” at the Mall of Asia Arena, performing in front of a massive crowd of music lovers and creators.
By August 2025, he returned home to perform at Silliman University’s All-University Acquaintance Party, an event that symbolized both his growth and his pride in his roots.
When the pandemic halted live performances, RAKS found new inspiration through K-pop and P-pop—genres that opened his eyes to the world of idols who blend music, dance, and storytelling. That period of reflection and discovery reshaped his dream—he no longer wanted to just sing; he wanted to perform, connect, and inspire on a deeper level.
He immersed himself in auditions, training programs, and workshops, mastering his craft in dance, vocal performance, and stage presence. Each experience became a stepping stone toward his vision of becoming a true P-pop idol.
RAKS’ persistence paid off when he officially signed with BEETZEE Inc. on October 16, 2024, marking a major milestone in his professional journey. Under the creative mentorship of BEETZEE, he continues to refine his artistry and prepare for his upcoming debut single—a project that promises to showcase his growth as a performer and songwriter.
Beyond the stage, RAKS connects with his supporters through digital platforms, sharing covers, dance challenges, and original content. His growing online presence reflects his belief that being an idol isn’t just about fame—it’s about authenticity, consistency, and the power to move others through music.
Now entering a new phase of his career, RAKS is ready to take his artistry to the next level. His dream: to perform and promote in Manila, collaborate with fellow Filipino artists, and bring Dumaguete pride to the heart of P-pop.
“I want people to feel something when they listen to my music,” he says. “If my songs can inspire even one person to keep believing in themselves, then I’ve already won.”
As he continues to rise, RAKS embodies the spirit of today’s Filipino artist—rooted in homegrown values, fueled by global ambition, and ready to make his mark on the ever-evolving sound of OPM.
