Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Wednesday urged witnesses and contractors involved in controversial flood-control projects to cooperate fully with investigators, demanding that those responsible be identified and held accountable.
Speaking at a Senate press briefing, Go called for transparency as investigations into alleged anomalous, ghost and substandard flood-control works proceed. He said the public deserves the whole truth and appealed to oversight bodies to focus on facts.
“I am one with Filipino people na alamin iyung katotohanan. Tumbukin natin kung sino ‘yung may kasalanan. ‘Yung flood control ang issue rito. ‘Yung ghost projects and issue rito. ‘Yung mga substandard projects ang issue rito. Mga anomalous projects ang issue rito. Panagutin natin ang dapat managot,” Go said.
He repeated his call for accountability: “Nakikiusap po ako. Let us make those responsible accountable for this mess.”
Go expressed support for the work of the Inter-Agency Committee on Infrastructure (ICI), the Ombudsman, and other agencies leading the probes. He urged investigators to prioritize verified facts and to resist attempts to distract from the core issues.
“Ang pakiusap ko lang po sa katotohanan lang tayo. ‘Yung lumabas po ‘yung totoo muna. The truth, the truth lang po. Ilabas n’yo po ‘yung katotohanan. Iyan po ang pakiusap ko sa ICI, kay Sec. Vince, at sa lahat po ng nag-iimbestiga. Doon lang po tayo sa katotohanan,” he said.
He also warned the public against efforts to derail the inquiry or spread misinformation: “Huwag na tayong paikot-ikot pa. Huwag nating ilihis mula sa katotohanan. Huwag n’yo pong lokohin ang Pilipino. Tumbukin po natin ang dapat tumbukin.”
