To accommodate the growing demand for companies engaged in blockchain and fintech, the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) has opened a Virtual Office inside the administration building of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB).
According to AFAB, the Virtual Office is a facility that allows digital enterprises to establish a legal, compliant base of operations in the Philippines without the heavy costs of physical infrastructure.
AFAB cited that the Virtual Office has an 800-square-meter area that includes a spacious lounge, executive rooms for private consultations, fully equipped meeting rooms, and coworking areas designed to foster collaboration.
The Virtual Office also houses modular office units, allowing enterprises to scale as they grow. To complete the setup, the facility includes a common pantry and a dedicated mailbox system that provides each enterprise with a secure, verifiable business address within the Freeport.
AFAB states that, “By breaking down physical barriers, AFAB ensures that the FAB remains relevant and competitive in the era of digital transformation, by supporting innovation not only through policy, but through the spaces and systems that make modern business work.”
Under Republic Act 11453, AFAB is the only government authority in the Philippines with the legal mandate to license enterprises operating in blockchain and fintech.
This legal distinction sets FAB apart, allowing it to attract and regulate companies in high-growth, technology-based sectors that demand both flexibility and legitimacy.
