The Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the leadership of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, has issued a show cause order suspending the driver’s license of a motorcycle rider whose antics in traffic went viral on social media.
The order, released on 16 August, imposes a 90-day preventive suspension on the rider’s license.
“The Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the leadership of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, preventively suspended for 90 days the driver’s license of a rider who made a show while stuck in traffic on a public road, the incident went viral on social media,” the agency said in a statement.
The move follows the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to crack down on riders engaging in improper or dangerous behavior on the road.
The viral video showed the rider standing on top of his motorcycle while in traffic and making hand gestures that were perceived as part of a dance routine.
In an interview, the rider admitted regret over the incident, saying he did not realize his actions were prohibited. He maintained that he was not dancing but only making hand gestures.
