It is utterly admirable that Marian Rivera isn’t affected by critics attacking her ability to speak English.
In an appearance on content creator Zeinab Harake’s YouTube vlog, Rivera reiterated her belief that the language should not be a basis of a person’s intelligence, capabilities and worth.
(There are people who are really quick to judge others. But they don't know the background, why someone becomes like that. My grandmother didn't finish high school. That's where I come from. Who will teach me to be fluent in English?)" she said.
Marian continued that while she can study English, she chose the path where she is comfortable and happy.
"Just to please everyone to speak English, bakit 'yun magiging basehan ng pagiging mahusay? (Why would that be the basis for excellence?)," she added.
