Senior citizens in Calamba City were the focus of a wide-ranging health mission on 8 August as the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) teamed up with local partners to provide free medical and dental services at the Jose Rizal Coliseum.
The mission was spearheaded by Dr. Rouel Aparato and the PCSO Medical and Dental Mission Team, who attended to elderly patients needing medical consultations, dental check-ups and extractions, and electrocardiogram (ECG) testing. Participants also received free medicines and vitamins.
Unified Senior Citizens President Winston Malabanan welcomed the initiative and thanked the PCSO for its efforts. “The needs of senior citizens should always be given the attention they deserve,” he said.
The program was made possible with the collaboration of public and private groups, including PhilHealth, Pamana Medical Center, and the Calamba City Health Office. Organizers also conducted short lectures on proper nutrition, common health conditions among the elderly, and the value of regular medical visits. Informational leaflets were distributed to encourage healthier daily practices.
PCSO said its participation in the mission reflects its continuing commitment to extend quality health care to underserved communities, with a special focus on the elderly population.
