Netflix’s Chinese-language title The Resurrected is heading to the Busan International Film Festival.
The series, helmed by directors Leste Chen (Eternal Summer) and Hsu Chao-jen (Living), is selected for the On Screen section, a category that aims to showcase cinema’s expanding trends and values.
Set against the backdrop of a chilling fraud-kidnapping case, The Resurrected explores the dark moral terrain of two mothers determined to resurrect a criminal mastermind sentenced to death for vengeance. It will premiere on the streaming platform on 9 October.
“Busan is a place that carries deep sentimental value for me. To be seen by the world here marks a new beginning with special meaning,” Hsu said.
Chen added, "BIFF holds great significance in my career as a filmmaker. Coming back here after 19 years is especially moving.”
