STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija — Authorities reported that the 15-year-old student who was shot inside her school last 7 August has died, her family confirmed Wednesday.
The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, died Tuesday night after a week in critical condition, her brother said in an interview.
“My sister is gone,” said the brother of the victim. “She is now in the morgue. We are only asking for respect for our family’s peace and for her soul.”
To recall, the shooting occurred on 7 August when the girl’s 18-year-old ex-boyfriend entered Sta. Rosa Integrated School around 10 a.m., according to authorities.
When the student resisted his attempt to remove her from the classroom, he shot her in the head before turning the gun on himself. He died from a self-inflicted wound a day later.
A .22-caliber snub-nose revolver was recovered from the scene.
According to earlier reports, a bullet remained lodged in the student’s skull because of the severity of her injuries.
Her family also raised concerns about delays in critical care, saying she was not moved to the intensive care unit until two days after she was hospitalized.
