A new generation of science scholars is taking the lead as 27 students from the Philippine Science High School (Pisay) System earned spots among the University of the Philippines’ top 50 Oblation Scholars for 2025.
From over 135,000 UPCAT takers this year, only 50 were selected for the Oblation Scholarship. It is the highest academic distinction granted by UP to its incoming freshmen.
“We are proud to share that 27 of these top 50 Oblation Scholars are from the Philippine Science High School System,” Pisay announced in a social media post.
The Oblation Scholarship covers full tuition, monthly stipends, and other benefits for the duration of the student’s chosen degree. It is awarded based on academic excellence, test performance, and leadership potential.
“Congratulations to all our Pisay Oblation Scholars for 2025,” the post continued. “You carry with you not only your dreams, but the hopes of a nation committed to science and service.”
The Philippine Science High School has consistently produced high achievers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, many of whom pursue further studies at UP and other top universities in the country.
