Subic Bay Freeport – A cargo vessel that rescued a missing fisherman on Saturday has turned him over to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

According to a report from the PCG, the fisherman was identified as Rodolfo Montes, a 52-year-old resident of Brgy. Petal, Dasol, Pangasinan.

Montes was picked up by the MV Shin Line 10, a cargo ship en route to the Subic Bay Freeport.

SBMA Law Enforcement Department’s inquiry revealed that Montes had been declared missing on 24 July 2025, after his boat capsized due to bad weather conditions.

The MV Shin Line 10 received a distress call from the Philippine Coast Guard and rescued Montes in the vicinity of Lingayen Gulf at around 6:45 PM on July 25, 2025.

Montes received immediate medical attention from the Public Health and Safety Department (PHSD) and was later turned over to his son and Barangay officials from Petal.

The group then departed for Dasol, Pangasinan after the PHSD gave clearance for Montes to travel.
