The low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Aurora has developed into a tropical depression on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.
PAGASA said Tropical Depression “Dante” formed at around 2 p.m.
As of 3 PM, the center of "Dante" was located 1,120 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It is moving north-northwestward at 20 km/h.
Meanwhile, another LPA was observed 155 kilometers east-southeast of Basco, Batanes.
Possible flooding and landslides due to moderate to heavy, and at times intense, rainfall are expected in Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
In addition, a third LPA located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
At least six people have died due to the effects of Severe Tropical Storm "Crising" and the enhanced southwest monsoon or "habagat."
