Students and teachers from two far-flung barangays in Zamboanga del Norte can now access the internet, thanks to a satellite-powered connection introduced under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s school connectivity initiative.
The beneficiaries include Seroan Integrated School in Barangay Seroan, municipality of Katipunan, and Marupay National High School in Barangay Marupay, municipality of President Manuel A. Roxas.
“Thank you very much, President Bongbong Marcos, for your gift to us of a smart classroom interactive board and satellite internet connection! Yehey!” the teachers and students of Seroan Integrated School said in a video message to the Chief Executive.
Teachers and students of Marupay National High School also expressed their gratitude in a separate video message to the President.
Government representatives and technicians delivered and installed a satellite internet unit from provider Starlink, along with a Huawei Idea Hub interactive board, at both schools on Friday.
In another video message to President Marcos, Jessan Macam, head teacher of Seroan Integrated School, said the satellite-powered connection would help teachers send reports quickly and receive official communications from their division office.
“We are very thankful, as are the teachers here and our fellow citizens. We will be able to use this whenever we need internet connection,” Macam said.
During the installation of the Huawei Idea Hub at Marupay National High School, teachers also received an orientation on how to use and operate the smart board.
President Marcos earlier said his administration aims to have all schools in the country connected to the internet by the end of the year.
