The Manila Police District (MPD) will have a new leader starting Monday following a reshuffle of Philippine National Police (PNP) officials ordered by PNP chief General Nicolas Torre III.
Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad, formerly the district director of the Northern Police District (NPD), will take over as the new acting director of the MPD.
The change was formalized in new General Orders signed by Maj. Gen. Constantino Chinayog, director for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), acting on Torre’s directive.
Outgoing MPD director Brig. Gen. Benigno Guzman will be transferred to the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) as its deputy director.
Abad is credited with maintaining general peace and administering his officials professionally during his recent tenure as NPD director, which covers the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) area.
Brig. Gen. Jerry Villas Protacio will succeed Abad as the head of the NPD. The turnover ceremony will be graced by National Capital Region Police Office Police Major General Anthony Aberin in the NPD Headquarters on Monday.
