Swift action by the Eastern Police District (EPD) and Marikina City Police Station led to the arrest of a rape suspect accused of sexually assaulting a grade school girl inside a gas station restroom in Barangay Concepcion Uno.
According to police reports made available Saturday, the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on 8 July, when the minor victim entered the ladies’ comfort room of a gasoline station. An unidentified man followed her inside and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the suspect reportedly gave the victim P150 before fleeing the area.
While conducting routine police visibility operations and establishment visits in the vicinity, officers were approached by the victim who reported the incident. Officers tracked and arrested the suspect, identified by the alias “Joy,” a 48-year-old resident of Barangay Tumana.
The arrest was conducted in coordination with the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of Marikina CPS and the victim’s guardian, who took immediate custody of the child.
EPD District Director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante commended the prompt action of Marikina police, stating: “This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to duty, upholding the law, preventing crime, and protecting the vulnerable, particularly victims of sexual abuse. The safety and well-being of the victim remain our highest priority.”
