Davao City’s dining scene just got a shot of tequila with Mamamita. From the team behind award-winning restaurant concepts, Bondi & Bourke and Bramble, the hot new Mexican restaurant recently opened its doors to bring exciting flavors from the streets of Mexico to Davao City’s Poblacion district.

Arriving at Mamamita, one is greeted by a bar framed by crimson tiles flanked by an open display of tequila and mezcal bottles from well-known and exotic distillers.

Promising exciting bites and well-made drinks, a glance at the restaurant’s menu reveals a heavy Mexican street-food influence with appetizers like Empanaditas, Cheese Quesadilla, Los Dips con Tostadas, and Ceviche, dishes that may be familiar to most Filipinos, but this time, made with uncompromising Mexican flavors.

A bite of their Taco Camaron, which comes loaded with creamy Chipotle mayo, pickled onions, salsa Rioja, and fresh coriander, perfectly pairs with a sip of their classic margarita.

Cheesy and gooey, the Queso Fundido is a three-cheese dip spiced with a bit of jalapeño served with a side of crispy tajin corn tortillas. Add some juicy pork carnitas for a smoky and meaty bite.

For those who need their fill of rice, Mamamita offers BBQ Pork Belly, Carne Asada, Chipotle Pork Ribs, and Nashville Hot Fried Chicken served over bowls of Mexican Rice. For the really hungry, Mamamita offers Platos Grandes of USDA Prime Steak, Ancho Chile Tiger Prawns and BBQ Pork Ribs that are perfect for groups of three or four.

All the tequila and mezcal on display is not just for show; however, Mamamita offers tequila and mezcal tasting flights. The tequila tasting flight features Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo variants of the spirit, while the mezcal flight features three artisan-made mezcals that bring tasters through the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.

Aside from tequila and mezcal, Mamamita also serves cocktails from Tequila Sunrise, Piña Colada, various flavored Mojitos, sangria, and beer.

Mamamita is located at the Paseo de Legaspi along Pelayo Street and is open daily from five in the afternoon onwards.
