Rockwell is slated to open its newest cultural treasure, The Proscenium Theater, in Makati in September, providing a fresh and cutting-edge venue for the metro's performing arts community.
Kicking things off on a high note is the Manila premiere of The Bodyguard: The Musical, brought to life by 9 Works Theatrical — the same brilliant minds behind Liwanag sa Dilim.
The theater's name comes from the architectural term "proscenium," which refers to the unseen plane that divides the performers from the audience and is traditionally framed by an arch. This design feature delivers a traditional theater experience by emphasizing the spectacle of the stage.
According to Esquire Philippines, the 3.6-hectare property, masterfully created by world-renowned architect Carlos Ott, includes five towers: Kirov, Sakura, Lincoln, Lorraine and The Proscenium Residences.
This modern theater has a 16-by-16-meter stage with an orchestra pit and fully automated fly lines for easy production adjustments. Even the farthest seats — only 20 meters from the stage — provide unimpeded views, making every seat in the house a good one.
