The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) hosted a two-day seminar aimed at enhancing air traffic management among various aviation stakeholders through the System-Wide Information Management (SWIM) initiative.
CAAP said that the seminar focused on introducing a more streamlined framework for information exchange between airports, airlines, air navigation service providers and weather agencies.
SWIM is a global initiative by the International Civil Aviation Organization designed to modernize how aviation-related information is managed and exchanged.
Traditionally, air traffic systems operate with separate and locally maintained communication formats, which often lead to higher operational costs and inefficiencies.
SWIM also addresses these issues by standardizing data models, infrastructure and governance support to ensure interoperable information sharing.
