Between work, family, errands and just trying to stay on top of everything, more people are carving out small pockets of peace at home, a space to unplug, exhale and feel at ease.
“With the constant motion in today’s world, sometimes it’s good to hit pause. These corners are essential wellness spaces built to help you ‘escape’ reality, even for a moment,” Siri Thanissorn, home design manager of Anko, said.
That’s where a “cozy corner” comes in. It is a small, thoughtfully styled nook that offers calm and comfort. It might be by a window, in a quiet hallway, or simply a reimagined corner of your living room. It is a place where stillness is intentional and every element, from lighting to texture, supports your ability to pause and breathe.
“For Millennials and Gen Z, wellness has evolved into a daily, personalized routine rather than a set of occasional activities or purchases. Cozy corners speak to the growing need to recharge emotionally, mentally, and physically, even for just a few minutes each day,” Thanissorn said.
The beauty of a cozy corner is that it doesn’t require a full home makeover, just a few thoughtful elements layered together with care.
Side table or tray. Include a small table or surface to hold the essentials: your favorite book, a warm drink, or a journal.
Cushions and throws. For your base, choose soothing color palettes, such as earthy browns, soft neutrals, and gentle greens, to create a tranquil atmosphere. Layering soft textures such as cushions, throw blankets and rugs enhances the sense of coziness in the space.
Functional accents. To fully set the mood, bring in sensory elements like scented candles or a touch of greenery. Candles introduce a sensory layer through scent, setting a calming and tranquil mood, while plants or fresh flowers bring in a touch of nature, something we naturally crave within our homes.
A personal touch. Make the space your own. Add a framed photo, a favorite book, or a playful thrifted find. Even a small pop of color can bring the space to life. Red, in particular, is one of the most versatile bright tones as it pairs beautifully with neutrals, blues, or lilacs and just a touch can energize a space and add a sense of fun and personality.
“The wellness trend shows no signs of slowing down, and it remains a key focus when we shape our trends. My team is always exploring new ways to innovate in this space, ensuring we continue to offer thoughtful solutions that support our customers’ well-being at home,” Thanissorn ended.
