CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 49-year-old fisherman who went alone fishing along the coastal road was found dead, floating along the coast of Barangay Lapasan this city shortly before dawn Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Diony Clemente, a resident of coastal road sitio Agora, Lapasan this city.
Investigation showed that the victim left their house about 3 a.m. to go net fishing along the coast of Macajalar Bay alone following an argument with his wife who usually accompanies him because of his chronic epilepsy illness.
The wife said she regularly accompanies her husband to go net fishing every morning and she cooks and sells their catch for their small eatery near their house.
The wife reportedly told the victim not to go out fishing because she cannot accompany this time. The victim got angry and left their house alone bringing his fishing net.
The wife after a while also went out to check on her husband but failed to locate him.
A group of joggers later on found the victim half-naked and floating face down along the coast.
Responding rescue team pulled the body from the water but initial examination revealed that the victim was no longer showing any sign of life.
Family members theorized that the victim could have drowned after suffering from epileptic seizure while fishing.
