Vice President Sara Duterte said Sunday that the Office of the Vice President will submit its response to the Ombudsman “within the required period” as her impeachment trial approaches.
Speaking at a pro-Duterte rally, Duterte said her lawyers are preparing the response and assured the public her team will meet the 10-day deadline set by the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman ordered Duterte on June 19 to answer allegations from the House of Representatives regarding the alleged misuse of confidential funds, giving her 10 days to respond.
Former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio said that if Duterte fails to respond within the allotted time, she will lose her right to present her side.
He also stressed that the process will continue even if she doesn’t respond within the period of time given.
