Newly appointed Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling has directed regional offices to speed up the handling of complaints filed by homebuyers against subdivision and condominium developers.

As his first official act following his oath-taking before President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Aliling signed a department circular mandating the “expeditious handling and disposition” of these complaints.

“Homebuyers and other real estate clients encountering problems deserve better from DHSUD. Malaking bagay po na mapabilis natin ang resolution ng kanilang mga problema na inihaharap sa atin (It would make a big difference if we can speed up the resolution of the problems they bring to us),” Secretary Aliling.

“We must exhaust all possible means within our authority to address these concerns fairly, transparently, expeditiously and, as much as possible, without added stress and cost to home buyers,” he added

Under the directive, DHSUD regional offices must submit bi-weekly status reports to the Central Office to monitor progress in complaint resolution.

During Monday’s ceremonial turnover at the DHSUD headquarters, Aliling also promised the creation of a direct mechanism for raising concerns to the Office of the Secretary. He said the initiative would cover both individual buyer complaints and issues involving homeowners' associations, aiming to resolve disputes without escalating to legal battles.

Homebuyers and concerned parties are encouraged to file complaints via email at info@dhsud.gov.ph or through the DHSUD’s official Facebook page @DHSUDgovph.
