The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday hailed the "historic" canvassing for the midterm elections.
After canvassing 100 certificates of canvass (COCs), the Comelec has only at least 15 COCs remaining.
"We would like to thank you all because we were able to, for the first time in the history of our country, this is the first time that the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) is able to canvass more than 100 COCs on a single day," Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said.
"Actually, yesterday was already historic. So you have to remember this day because yesterday we were able to canvass 58 COCs but we were able to surpass that," Garcia added.
The poll body, sitting as the NBOC, will resume canvassing of COCs Thursday afternoon.
Garcia said he is confident the Comelec will finish canvassing all 175 COCs on Thursday.
