
A routine screening at Mactan-Cebu International Airport turned into a major anti-crime operation after authorities intercepted seven bags containing nearly half a billion pesos in cash.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Sunday commended the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other law enforcement agencies for their swift and coordinated response, which led to the arrest of nine foreign nationals and two Filipinos.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the department would enhance its collaboration with the country’s security sector to ensure the safety of transport infrastructure and the riding public.
Dizon said the department will continue to adopt a whole-of-government approach to protect every passenger entering or leaving the country’s ports and airports.
