The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has tapped police officers and personnel to serve as Special Electoral Boards (SEBs) for the 2025 national and local elections, if needed.
Speaking at a news forum on Saturday, P/MGen. Roderick Augustus Alba, Director for Police Community Relations, said the PNP is preparing over 3,000 personnel for possible deployment as SEBs, should the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) request their assistance.
Alba said police officers tapped as SEBs could serve in areas where teachers and other poll workers could not reach.
“We are ready to provide these trained SEBs, then we have also prepared to have our security plans in place," he added.
The PNP previously identified 37 election hotspots, with 35 of them located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
