Actress Maris Racal was moved to tears after watching her film Sunshine for the first time during its premiere at the Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy.
Photos shared by Project 8 Projects captured the emotional moment as the audience erupted into applause once the credits rolled on April 25 (Europe time).
"Maris Racal saw Sunshine for the first time in Udine, Italy. This was her as the credits rolled and the whole theatre clapped for her. She bawled her eyes out. We love you, Sunshine @mariesteller. The world is yours!" the production outfit wrote on social media.
The Far East Film Festival is regarded as one of Europe's biggest showcases of Asian cinema, celebrating the vibrant storytelling and cultural diversity of the region.
Sunshine follows the journey of a young gymnast who faces an unexpected pregnancy just as she is about to audition for the national team. In search of illegal abortion pills, she encounters a mysterious girl who strikingly mirrors her own thoughts and emotions.
Prior to its screening in Udine, Sunshine had already made waves internationally, earning recognition at the Berlinale and the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2024.
