Kapuso actress Carla Abellana is embracing the joys of married life with a healthy dose of humor and grounded optimism. In a lively interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda aired 14 January, she poked fun at her previous short-lived marriage to actor Tom Rodriguez — a union that lasted about seven weeks.
“Life as a married woman, as a wife. Sabi ko nga najojoke ako so far we’re married [for] two weeks, so konti nalang mabeat ko yung record ko dati na seven weeks,” she quipped.
Carla tied the knot with Dr. Reginald Santos, her first love from high school, on 27 December 2025, in an intimate ceremony in Cavite. The pair first met at O.B. Montessori in Greenhills, where he was her senior and future medical professional.
They parted ways years ago when he focused on med school, but their rekindled romance culminated in marriage last year, delighting fans who have followed their love story.
Beyond the jokes, Carla shared her excitement about experiencing marriage fully for the first time.
“Looking forward at least ngayon maexperience ko siya. Whether it's the honeymoon stage, whether it’s [the] challenge na dumaan—whatever it is. That’s part of getting married, experiencing married life for the first time,” she said.
She also reflected on the courage of her young love: “Nagbreak kami because he actually had to really focus on his studies kasi he was serious about med school. So talagang in all fairness to him, napakabrave niya na kinailangan niyang pumili between our relationship and med school.”
True to her playful side, Carla joked that she plans to celebrate once she surpasses her previous marriage record: “Yes, dapat meron po by the seventh week plus one day. Yun lang automatic nabeat ko na.”
Looking ahead, the actress has shared that starting a family is a priority. Aware of life’s timing, she said she and her husband are open to having children “if God permits,” even exploring options like in vitro fertilization as a backup plan.
