Over 70 CV bridges rated poor to bad

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Local Roads and Bridges Inventory (LRBI) disclosed Thursday that over 70 bridges in Central Visayas have been assessed as being in poor to bad condition.

Central Visayas has a total of 860 bridges. Most are made of concrete, with some made of steel.

Of the concrete bridges, 40 were rated poor, 24 are in bad condition, 178 in fair condition and majority in good shape.

In Cebu City, the Sanciangko Bridge was the only one among 40 permanent concrete bridges assessed by the Department of Public Works and Highways to be in bad condition as of 16 October 2024. Three others were rated as good and the rest were fair.

In the First District of the Province of Cebu, most of the bridges were assessed in good or fair condition. Only the Mananga Bridge 1 in Tabunok, Talisay City had defective bearing pads.

In the Second District, the Manlapay Bridge was rated in bad condition. Four others in poor condition were Hagdan 1, Doong, Luka 1 and Tapon bridges.
