Korean actors Lee Jae-wook, known for Alchemy of Souls, and Jo Bo-ah of Destined with You headline the upcoming Korean mystery romance period drama Dear Hongrang, set to premiere on Netflix on 16 May.
Directed by Kim Hong-sun, best known for Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, the series is based on the best-selling novel by Jang Da-hye.
Dear Hongrang follows a powerful merchant family during the Joseon era whose son, Hongrang, mysteriously vanishes — only to reappear 12 years later. While most of the family embraces his return, one person remains unconvinced: his half-sister, Jae Yi.
Lee Jae-wook takes on the role of the enigmatic Hongrang, while Jo Bo-ah plays the sharp and skeptical Jae Yi, who suspects the man claiming to be her brother may be an imposter.
The cast also includes Uhm Ji-won as Hongrang’s mother Min Yeon-eui, Park Byung-eun as his father Shim Yeol-guk, and Jung Ga-ram as his adopted brother Mu-jin.
The teaser trailer, released on 17 April KST, shows how Hongrang’s unexpected return upends the Min family’s world. His arrival sets off a series of eerie incidents, including child abductions that mirror the circumstances of his disappearance 12 years earlier — deepening the mystery surrounding him.
Dear Hongrang promises a captivating mix of romance, suspense, and period drama.
