First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos paid a brief but meaningful visit to Cebu to inspect potential venues for the upcoming ASEAN 2026 Summit which the Philippines will host.
In a social media post on Sunday, the First Lady described the province as “one of the brightest jewels of our country.”
She gushed over Cebu’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage and warm hospitality.
“There is no denying Cebu is one of a kind!” she said, underscoring the island’s potential to represent the Philippines on the international stage.
The First Lady’s itinerary included a lunch meeting in Liloan with Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco and other local officials. She thanked Frasco and Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco for their hospitality.
“It was such a pleasure to be with the leaders of Liloan — so full of heart, humor, and pride for their hometown,” she said.
Later in the afternoon, Mrs. Marcos had merienda with Governor Gwen Garcia and the Frasco family.
Reflecting on her Cebu trip, she noted: “Cebu always feels like a second home, especially with company like this.”
The visit was part of a broader evaluation of possible host sites for ASEAN 2026, with Cebu emerging as a strong contender given its infrastructure, hospitality, and proven track record in hosting international events.
