In its ongoing mission to spark imagination and connection, Book Nook filled the month of March with a vibrant lineup of activities that brought together artists, food lovers, young readers, and curious minds at SM Aura and SM Podium.
With more than 250 participants across both venues, Book Nook’s events ranged from art workshops to a cookbook launch and storytelling sessions— all celebrating the joy of reading and creative expression.
At SM Aura, March began with a splash of color at the Arts and Crafts Workshop in partnership with The Crafters Marketplace. Held on 15 March, the event saw children diving into texture, color, and hands-on creativity. The atmosphere was joyful and electric as young artists proudly showcased their one-of-a-kind works.
Later in the month, the spotlight turned to food as Book Nook partnered with Bookshelf PH for the launch of Ma Rasah: My Self-Trained Home Chef by Elvira Silla on 26 March. The book, packed with over 150 recipes blending Filipino flavors with global influences, drew an audience of foodies and literature fans alike. Silla signed copies and even donated one to the SM Aura Book Nook, inviting mallgoers to explore her culinary journey on the shelves.
Meanwhile, SM Podium hosted its own dose of inspiration. On 22 March, the Rhinestone Painting Workshop offered a calming yet creative afternoon, where participants crafted dazzling, gem-like artworks. The session served as a reminder of how art can be both meditative and expressive.
To close the month, Book Nook marked National Women’s Month with a special storytelling event in partnership with IBBY Philippines. On 30 March, author Bambi Rodriguez captivated young readers with tales from the Super Maya series — stories that celebrate courage, resilience, and the power of strong female leads.
“Each Book Nook event is a celebration of learning and self-expression. This month showed us how stories, art, and food can bring people together in beautiful and meaningful ways,” said Book Nook pioneer Shereen T. Sy.
More than just a pop-up library, Book Nook, an initiative by SM Cares, has become a community space where reading, art, and cultural exchange flourish. Open to all ages, it thrives on the energy of volunteers, partner organizations, and visitors who believe in the power of storytelling.
Whether you’re dropping by to donate a book, swap a title, or join a workshop, Book Nook offers a welcoming space for creativity and discovery.
