DINGALAN, Aurora — A total of 27 Green Sea Turtle hatchlings were released along the coastal areas of Barangay Umiray at Sea Beach Resort in this town last 2 April.

The Municipal Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources led the releasing of the Green Sea Turtles into their natural habitat. With the Scientific name Chelonia mydas, these sea turtles are classified as an endangered species.

This means they meet specific “listing criteria,” including “an observed, estimated, inferred or suspected reduction of at least 50 percent over the last 10 years or three generations.”

Regional executive director Ralph Pablo said the release of the hatchlings symbolizes a significant step toward the preservation of marine life and underscores the continued commitment of local stakeholders to environmental conservation.
