Four individuals were wounded after a road rage incident escalated into a shooting along Marcos Highway in Sitio Calumpang, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo, on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Antipolo Police, the altercation stemmed from a traffic dispute between the suspect and the victims. The suspect, a 28-year-old businessman identified as alias Kenneth, was driving an SUV and allegedly fired his weapon, hitting a 52-year-old motorcycle rider in the head. The rider remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery. His 22-year-old child was also wounded, sustaining a gunshot wound to the right arm.

A 29-year-old man who attempted to intervene was shot in the right side of his chest, while the suspect’s female companion, who was inside the SUV, was hit in the thigh.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene in his black SUV. However, police launched a hot pursuit operation and apprehended him at a border checkpoint in Barangay Mayamot.

Rizal Police Provincial Office Director PCol. Felipe Maraggun confirmed in a DZRH interview that all the wounded victims survived, with two already discharged from the hospital.

"All the wounded victims are alive. One remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgery, while the other two have already been discharged," Maraggun said in Filipino.

Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol from the suspect, which, according to Maraggun, was registered under his name. However, he failed to present the necessary documentation at the time of his arrest.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including four counts of frustrated homicide, violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and violation of the Omnibus Election Code due to the ongoing gun ban.
