LAOAG CITY — A joint law enforcement operation resulted in the seizure of a firearm and suspected illegal drugs following the implementation of two search warrants early Monday morning.

The operation, led by the Laoag City Police Station in coordination with various law enforcement agencies, was carried out at the residence of Daveson Navarro Lorenzo, also known as “Ka Dugsol,” in Barangay 1, San Lorenzo, Laoag City.

The warrants, issued by Executive Judge Dinah Myrtle M. Pacquing of RTC Branch 11, authorized searches for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).

During the raid, authorities recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver, along with multiple plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with a total weight of 7.7 grams and an estimated street value of P52,360. Also seized were drug paraphernalia, including plastic sachets with suspected drug residue, an improvised plastic shovel, and a lighter.

The search, marking and inventory of the confiscated items were conducted in the presence of official witnesses, including representatives from the Office of the City Prosecutor, barangay officials and media personnel.

Following the operation, the suspect underwent a medical examination before being taken into police custody for proper disposition. Authorities are now preparing the necessary documents for the filing of appropriate charges.
