San Rafael, Bulacan – Three people were killed in an ambush along Maharlika Highway in this town on Friday.
According to witnesses, the Information Technology (IT) staff of a congressional candidate, his girlfriend, and a bodyguard were killed after they were ambushed.
Bryan Villaflor, IT staff of third district congressional candidate Victor Silverio, was aboard a black Ford Everest with bodyguard Jayvee Mariano and Villaflor's girlfriend, Jam, when they were traversing Maharlika Highway in Barangay Capihan around 3 p.m. on Friday. They were blocked by two vehicles.
Suddenly, unidentified armed men alighted from a black Toyota Rav-4 and a Mitsubishi Montero and riddled the victims’ vehicle with bullets.
Both the bodyguard and Villaflor were declared dead on the spot, while the girlfriend was declared dead on arrival at a nearby medical facility in San Rafael.
Villaflor, the IT staff of the son of Third District Rep. Lorna Silverio, was a resident of Poblacion, San Ildefonso town.
A total of 25 shell casings of caliber 5.56mm were found at the crime scene.
The victims had come from Villaflor's house and were en route to a supermarket in Baliwag City.
